Quotes

I just decided to type my favorite quotes. The ones that I picked really stood out among the others.

The wind of Heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears.
~Arabian Proverb

A horse is the projection of people's dreams about themselves - strong, powerful, beautiful - and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.
~ Pam Brown

The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire.
~ Sharon Ralls Lemon

In riding a horse we borrow freedom.

Preparing For Penny Oak H.T.!

I taught Lexie how to neck reign! But, we can't do a whole lot of that right now because I am preparing for a Horse Trial in Indiana. Every time I ride I have to do pacing with Lexie. Pacing is where you gallop a certain distance faster than a minute so that you can get your horse fit. So far we have galloped up to Training Level which is REALLY fast!

I am getting a Games pony in a few days! The pony we picked out is a 13.3 hh Paint Pony named Dublin. He is about 5 or 6 years old:)
Here is a picture of him on the left.

It has been a LONG time since I wrote in my blog:) Well, let me get you up to date on what has happened this year:

1. I competed in May at a show called "May Daze at the Park". Me and Lexie got second in the Beginner Novice Horse Trial.
2. I competes at a show called "Spring Run" in Prospect, KY . Me and Lexie were 4th after Dressage, 4th after Show Jumping and then.....11th after Cross Country. Well, you see, Lexie did not wan't to go through the water; and even before we got to the water we began to have time faults. But, Oh well. It was HOT that day (100 degrees Fahrenheit) and she was not feeling great either.
3. I won TET Rally this year (like I did last year). TET is just short for Midsouth Tetrathalon Rally. What you do in TET Rally is: Swim, Run, Ride and Shoot an Airpistol. I was first after shooting, got the maximum points in Swimming, got the maximum points in Running and rode a clear round on my friends pony in the Riding phase.
4. A few days after TET Rally I won the Midsouth D-2 Rally on Lexie. I got a 28.5 on dressage!!! My Team also got 1st and we got 3rd in Horse Management. I got a silver plaque and everything for winning!
5. The day after D-2 Rally I won the Beginner Novice devision of the Midsouth Combined Test. I got a 29.5 on Dressage. My Dressage judge for that show was the same one I had had at Spring Run, I had to also do the same test; the change in the score was amazing! It went from 36 down to 29.5!

The poem on this graphic I made says

"A star is like a horse,
It shines ever so brightly,
And when you are longing for something,
Just make a wish, Close your eyes tightly"

Vaulting!

I can't wait to start vaulting!! Unfortunately I can't TRULY start vaulting right now because I only have a saddle to work with. So far I have bent down on my knees while Lexie was walking and then I have leaned all the way over to her side and then swung my leg back over. On Thursday I am going to vault with my bareback pad instead so that I don't scratch my saddle. I jumped with no hands Tuesday. It was SO awesome! I did a small grid and my instructor kept adding more and more jumps to the grid.

Won My Horse Show!!

YAAAAAY! I won my horse show! I rode my mare Lexie in a starter Horse Trial on October 24-25. It was her first cross country ever! Next year I get to do Beginner Novice! After the horse show ended we schooled cross country. I finally got Lexie to canter through water (*sighs* it was HARD! She HATES water) I jumped Beginner Novice and Novice also.

One Handed Jumping!

Today I jumped 2' 6" on Lexie with 1 hand! It was so fun!! But I couldn't do a whole course because she has no idea how to neck reign..... Can't wait till tomorrow, I get to have a lesson. (hopefully jumping)

Lexie has been soooo great this weekend and I have a feeling we will do well. Unfortunately Lexie does not like going through water so that part of the cross country course will be a problem.

Ride without fear.....

You have the wind in your face and endless possibilities yet, you are afraid. Don't look back, only look ahead. Put your troubles behind you like hoof prints. Ride without fear, soar without wings.

Jennifer....my dog.

Unfortunately my dog Jennifer (showname: Jacuba Jennifer) is 11 years old this December. Please pray for her, she is a blessed dog and we love her so!

Bareback!!

Today I rode bareback on Lexie and she is sooo bony!! We bought a bareback pad but it only helps a little. I am really excited, I jumped a 2' 5" oxer bareback! (hint: only reason it is a "big deal" is because this is only my second time jumping bareback!) After a while Lexie began to get REALLY wild and by the end of our ride she was racing around the jump field like a maniac!!

Training for a show.

I am currently training for Octoberfest. Octoberfest is a horse trial held at the Kentucky Horse Park and is a rather big deal. Tomorrow we have to load up the horses and send them to the Horse Park. I am going to ride my warmblood mare Galaxy. This will be her first real cross country. I hope I do well and, for Lexie's sake, have a good ride.

Above is a picture of me and the pony I used to ride, Tucker (showname: Never Tucker Out)
